Dear Parents/Guardians, 

Welcome to Grade 2 at Oakview Preparatory School! I am delighted to welcome our students and families to a year of learning, discovery, growth, and achievement.

Second grade is an exciting time in a child’s educational journey. Students are becoming more independent, developing stronger academic skills, asking deeper questions, and discovering new ways to express their ideas. In our classroom, we want every child to feel welcomed, valued, challenged, supported, and inspired to succeed.

Our Grade 2 classroom is more than a place where students complete assignments. It is a learning community where children are encouraged to think, explore, create, communicate, collaborate, and serve others.

Our Grade 2 Expectations

Every child can grow and succeed. Students will be encouraged to:

• Come to school prepared and ready to learn.
• Complete classwork and homework carefully and on time.
• Read regularly at school and at home.
• Practice important mathematics skills.
• Ask questions when they need help.
• Treat classmates, teachers, and school property with respect.
• Demonstrate Reverence, Respect, and Responsibility.
• Learn from mistakes and continue trying when something is challenging.
• Use technology safely and responsibly.
• Celebrate the accomplishments of others as well as their own.

 Parents and guardians are an important part of the Grade 2 learning team.   Please regularly review your child’s school planner, check Jupiter for assignments, messages, and academic updates, encourage daily reading and practice at home, and communicate with me whenever you have questions or concerns.
